Riding a bus on Malta is quite an adventure. The rides are bumpy, yet practically for free. And another great and reassuring thing is that the driver’s paraphernalia are - “Thank God” - always the same: pictures of his children, religious memorabilia and something indicating an interest in soccer. It’s so charming and so not like at home (in Holland), where things are efficient and modern and therefore quite boring. (Hm. Come to think of it. Might consider to pop over. Just for a few days. Again.)
I suspect that as most you who are actually interested in this already know, Arriva will be taking over and our bus rides won’t look as different from that of the aformentioned Holland. It’s a bit of a bittersweet situation because as much as i’m going to miss this ktisch like assemblage I still do look forward to the new schedule Arriva is adopting. Still, wouldn’tit be great if all these bus drivers would stil be able to house and have the energy to fursnish and exhibit their work nonetheless?
